Library Security, Episode 5

Colton was doing his perimeter sweep when he saw something unusual.  A man was standing on the side of the building, pants down, urinating against the side of the building.  "You been drinking?" Colton asked.

"No," the guy said.

So it was going to be one of those days.  "Then why are you doing it?"

"Because I feel like it."

It was that time.  "Pull up your pants and put you hands in the air.  You're under arrest."

The man faced him, pants down.  "I'm not afraid to use it."

"If you piss on me, I'll beat the piss out of you," Colton said.

This seemed to scare the man, as he pulled up his pants and raised his hands.

After Colton called the police and had him arrested, he went back inside.  He sat in his office for about a half an hour before setting out on an interior sweep.

Everything was good until he got to the Teen section on the second floor.  Even then, things were alright until he got to an area the cameras couldn't see.  It was there he saw two teenagers having sex.  "No having sex in the library."

The boy participant said, "screw off, old man."  He then went back to what he was doing.

Colton grabbing him by the arm, yanked him off the girl, and flung him aside.  "I'm trying to be nice because you're kids, but I will bring down the full wrath of the Grand Creek Public Library law if you don't leave now.  Get dressed and leave."  He went around a corner, to give them some privacy as they got dressed.

They came around the corner, angry and fully dressed.  "Freakin' lame dude," the girl said.  "You're just mad cause you can't screw me."

"Keep pushing and you'll be under arrest," Colton warned.  He escorted the teens to door, where the library manager was waiting with a note.

"You're banned from the library for ten years," the manager said.  "Be lucky we're letting you off with that, brats."

Colton and the manager looked at each other and shook their heads.

A few hours later, Colton walked into the Computer Room to see a lone man in there.  He seemed to be engaged in something intense and didn't notice him.  Taking advantage of the situation, Colton walked over and discovered the man was masturbating.  "You're under arrest.  Back away from the computer and put your hands in the air."

The man wasn't listening.  He kept pleasuring himself.  Colton kicked him over.  "I said you're under arrest.  Put your hands in the air."

"Asshole," the man said, as he scrambled to his feet and attacked.

Colton caught his arm and said, "I said put your hands in the air, not to attack me."  He then put the man in a chicken wing hold until his arm broke."

The man screamed.

Colton silenced him by slamming his face into the Computer Room door.  "Shut up."

After that situation was settled and the police took the man away, Colton and the manager met up.  "Today's been a wild day, huh?" the manager asked.

"Yeah," Colton replied.  "It's almost like there's something in the water."

The manager laughed.  "I know what you mean.  It is strange, though.  Such an outbreak of rule-breaking in one day.  I've never seen it like this before."

"Yeah..."

"Anyway, I'm glad we have such a good security guard," the manager said.  "Hopefully, the people at HQ give you a raise for this."

They shared thoughts for a few more minutes before Colton returned to his office.  Once he got there, he saw an envelope on his desk.  He opened it and pulled out a letter written in an erratic style.  He read, "The time is payback is nigh.  For the years I've suffered have not been kind.  You will remember when you see me.  I will watch you suffer and smile with glee."

Who wrote this?  He checked back on the cameras' footage to see who had been in his office.  Besides him, only a female clerical aide had come in.  It looked like she had the letter in her hands.  She likely didn't write it, but it was his only lead.

He walked over to the service desk and show her the letter.  "Who gave you this?"

The clerical aide looked shocked.  "Our check-in page.  He says it came in through the book drop."

The check-in room was next to the entrance.  He headed over and showed the check-in page the letter.  "Did you write this?"

The page shook his head.  "I don't even know what that is.  I gave the CA a weird envelope.  Is that what was in there?  Cre-ppy."

"You sure about you don't know anything about it?" Colton asked.

"Why would I?" the page asked.  "It came through the book drop at about six-thirty.  Check the camera."

Colton decided to do so.  He went back to his office and checked the camera trained on the book drop outside the main entrance.  He started his search at 6:25 pm.  Then, at 6:32 pm, he saw it.  A person dressed in black, wearing a mask put something in the book drop.  It must have been him.  The timing coincided with what the page told him and that was a suspicious person if he ever saw one.

None of that answered the real question.  Who wrote it and why?

After work, Colton locked up and did an extra perimeter sweep.  Nothing suspicious.  Having done all he could he do, he hopped on his motorcycle and went home.  Whoever it was, he'd eventually catch them.
